Silas Bøcher (1987) is a Danish fine furniture maker based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Silas has a background in public administration but decided to change his career to furniture making, after searching for meaning beyond the office desk — and finding it within the desk itself.
Silas graduated from Next København in 2024 with a silver medal, the highest award, for outstanding craftmanship in his final apprentice piece.
At his workshop Silas designs and crafts beautiful, one-of-a-kind furniture firmly rooted in the strong Danish design tradition while also drawing inspiration from American and Japanese designers and craftsmen.
Silas loves incorporating intricate details such as handmade pulls and beautiful joinery in this work and is extremely skilled with hand tools.
The central tenet in Silas' work is respect for wood as a material, which is meticulously transformed into heirloom-quality showpiece furniture in accordance with the wishes and specifications of the clients.
Heirloom-quality furniture is inherently more sustainable than mass-produced furniture that often doesn't last long. In addition, Silas continuously strives for a production that is as sustainable as possible, for instance by using locally sourced materials and natural finishing products — for the sake of the environment, and everyone's health and safety.
